2013-2014 Boys Basketball
Expectations are high for the 2013-2014 Sandies. We return 9 letterman off last year’s 21-11 district champion and regional tournament team. The team has had a good start to the season with a solid off season and good first week of practice. The key to the success of this year’s team will be the ability to stay hungry every day. Last year’s team did a wonderful job of not buying into other people’s expectations but rather staying focused at the task at hand. That will be a key to this team. Striving to be as good as we can be every day. We have more size this year which can help us rebound the ball. This team can play really well in transition and the best way to get out and run is by getting defensive stops and closing the possession with a rebound. I like the unselfishness on this team and ability to share the ball. With so many different guys who can score it is important to not settle for tough shots but to make the extra pass and find the open man. If this team plays together, plays and practices with energy and doesn’t concern themselves with who gets the credit, they have an opportunity to achieve all the goals they have.

2013-2014 Girls Basketball
I could not be more excited about a group of girls. I am very fortunate to have young ladies on our team that I know will go out every game and represent Amarillo High very well. Your Lady Sandies have put in the time to go out in every game and give themselves a chance to win. The chemistry on this team will be one of its greatest assets. Our senior leaders are paving the way both on and off the court as role models for our underclassmen and future Sandies to follow. We will strive every day to be better than the day before. This is a pledge we have made to and for each other. I’d like to thank our parents, fans, teachers, and administration for their support of our program. We would like to thank you for coming to the game tonight and hope you enjoy yourself.
