Sandies Defeat Monterey Again

Friday evening, the Sandies defeated the Lubbock Monterey Plainsmen by a score of 3-1 to extend their record in District 2-6A play to 3-1.  The evening began with a ceremony honoring the Senior players and their contributions to the program.  While the offense was kept in check by the Plainsmen, it did not take many runs for the Sandies to the secure the win behind the complete game, 1 run outing by Junior pitcher Avery Beller.

The Sandies will face the Tascosa Rebels this week with a 5:00 game at Sandie Field on Tuesday April 5 and a 5:00 start at Rebel Field on Friday April 8.  We invite one and all out to the ball parks to enjoy what promises to be a couple of hard fought games.

Sandie Baseball Tops Monterey

The Sandies notched another district 2-6A win Tuesday night defeating the Lubbock Monterey Plainsmen 5-3 behind Mason Mays’ complete game effort.  Max Marusak, Davis Brunson and Mason Mays lead the way offensively each getting 2 hits on the night.

The Sandies will face the Plainsmen again Friday at 5:00 at Sandie Field.  Prior to the game, the seniors will be introduced and honored for their 4 years of dedication to the program.  Come out to the ballpark for a great evening of ball!

Coach Timmons Gets 500th Career Win

The Sandies routed the Lubbock Cooper Pirates 14-7 Friday as Coach Jeff Timmons got his 500th career win.   The Sandies, now 13-8 on the season, were powered by Clay Koelzer who went 4 for 4 at the plate with 2 doubles, a triple and a single with 2 RBIs.  Skyler Nelson added 3 doubles with 5 RBIs and Davis Brunson was 3 for 4 with 2 singles, a double and 2 RBIs.  Trevor Andrus was dominating on the mound pitching 6 innings in relief and holding the Pirates scoreless until the 7th.  He finished with 6 strikeouts and gave up only 2 runs.  The team celebrated Coach Timmons’ achievement with the traditional ice water dump.  The Sandies face Lubbock Monterey there at 7:00 on Tuesday 3/29.

Sandies Split with Coronado

The Amarillo High Sandie Baseball team opened 2-6A District play with a win over the Lubbock Coronado Mustangs 12-1 on Friday evening.  The Sandies traveled to Lubbock to take on the Mustangs on Saturday.  The Sandies fell behind early and were trailing 10-1 headed into the 7th inning.  They rallied to cut the lead to 2 but came up short in the in end and fell 10-8.  The Sandies record on the year stands at 12-8 and are now 1-1 in district play.  The Sandies face Lubbock Cooper on Friday March 25 at 1:00 at Sandie Field.

Sandies Finish 6-0 in Randy Keller Memorial Tournament

The Sandies Varsity Baseball team finished the Randy Keller Memorial Tournament with a 6-0 record defeating Montwood, Caprock, Palo Duro, Canyon, Alamagordo and Hereford.  District play starts Friday March 18 at 4:30 against Coronado at Sandie Field.  The Sandies travel to Lubbock on Saturday March 19 for a 1:00 game to complete the home and home series.  This will be a test for the Sandies so come out and help the team start district with a win!

Sandies Down Palo Duro

The Amarillo High Sandies Varsity baseball team handled the Palo Duro Dons 13-2 in their third game of the Randy Keller Memorial Tournament.  The Sandies got strong pitching from Trevor Andrus, Hunter Bonds and Will Stroud.  The Sandies face Canyon at 3 today before hosting Alamagordo at 9 tomorrow morning followed by Hereford at 3 PM.

Sandies Win 2 on Thursday

The Sandies Varstiy squad won their first two games of the Randy Keller Memorial Tournament on Thursday defeating El Paso Montwood 2-1 and Caprock 8-0.  Mason Mays pitched a complete game in the first contest surrendering only 1 run.  In the second game, Caleb Flores pitched 6 shutout innings.

The Sandies are in action again today at Sandie Field facing Palo Duro at noon and Canyon at 3.  The weather is perfect; get out to the field for some great Sandie Baseball!!
