On Tuesday evening at Sandie Field, the Sandies won in come from behind fashion against their District 2-6A rival Tascosa Rebels. Offense was the theme of the night with both teams hitting the ball well. The Sandies took an early 1-0 lead after the first inning but the Rebels rallied with 6 in the second inning and held the lead until the bottom of the 6th. After a double by Junior Skyler Nelson, Benton Rogers knocked in the game tying run with a triple down the right field line. Rogers was then scored on a sacrifice fly to right by Senior Davis Brunson to put the Sandies up. Ryne Williams, on in relief of Mason Mays, held the Rebels scoreless in the top of the 7th to secure the win for Amarillo High. With the win, the Sandies are 4-1 in District 2-6A play and tied with Frenship for second behind Lubbock Coronado (6-1).
The Sandies and Rebels will meet again on Friday April 8 at Rebel Field at 5:00.
