The Sandies routed the Lubbock Cooper Pirates 14-7 Friday as Coach Jeff Timmons got his 500th career win. The Sandies, now 13-8 on the season, were powered by Clay Koelzer who went 4 for 4 at the plate with 2 doubles, a triple and a single with 2 RBIs. Skyler Nelson added 3 doubles with 5 RBIs and Davis Brunson was 3 for 4 with 2 singles, a double and 2 RBIs. Trevor Andrus was dominating on the mound pitching 6 innings in relief and holding the Pirates scoreless until the 7th. He finished with 6 strikeouts and gave up only 2 runs. The team celebrated Coach Timmons’ achievement with the traditional ice water dump. The Sandies face Lubbock Monterey there at 7:00 on Tuesday 3/29.
